Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is a country that occupies more than two thirds of the eastern island of Santo Domingo, in the Antilles Archipelago. This island also had formerly the names of La Hispaniola, La Española and Quisqueya.

It borders on the north with the Atlantic Ocean, on the south with the Caribbean Sea or the Antilles Sea, on the east with the Canal de la Mona, which separates it from Puerto Rico, and on the west with the Republic of Haiti. It has a territorial surface of 48,442 km² and a population of more than nine million inhabitants. The seat of government and capital of the country is Santo Domingo.

No one can claim to be surprised that the Dominican Republic now ranks as the most visited country in the Caribbean. The diamond white beaches and exotic resorts from Punta Cana to La Romana attract millions of sun lovers every year. The amazing landscape and vegetation are uniquely preserved and pleasing to the eye. Its also a beautiful place to find some of the best artists specializing in Taino artisty, like that of  Artesanía Guillén.

LA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA

La República Dominicana es un país que ocupa algo más de los dos tercios orientales de la isla de Santo Domingo, en el Archipiélago de las Antillas. Esta isla también tuvo antiguamente los nombres de La Hispaniola, La Española yQuisqueya.

Limita al norte con el Océano Atlántico, al sur con el Mar Caribe o Mar de las Antillas, al este con el Canal de la Mona, que la separa de Puerto Rico, y al oeste con la República de Haití. Tiene una superficie territorial de 48.442 km² y una población de más de nueve millones de habitantes. La sede del gobierno y capital del país es Santo Domingo.
